The Ache people of Central Sumatra are carrying this round hand hand shield (or Buckler) made of wood which is also locally known as .Peurise Awe. It is 13 ½ inches in diameter, made of spiral cane densly braided with Rattan fibers and reinforced with brass rivets. It is decorated with 6 brass bosses and central brass star. This is an authentic, very early 20 C. piece in excellent condition. The rear handle is missing and replaced with modern rope.
