Chopper / Machete of the Igorot Philippines - 6761
The Igorot people from the mountainous region of Luzon in the Philippines uses this machete as a general purpose tool as well as a weapon. It is also known as Pinahig . The heavy single edge blade, is 16 inches long, 3 inches wide near the tip. The grip is forged in one piece with the blade and folded like a tube or socket and bound with four braided rattan bands. It is housed in an open wood scabbard, with carved ribs on its entire length. Total length (in scabbard) 23 1/2 inches. A very unusual item in a very good condition. |
