Very Long Execution Keris Sword Sumatra - 6657

Up for sale is this unusual long execution Keris dagger / sword from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. This one has a very long blade of 24 ½ inches long (compared to 16 - 18 inches blade on the more common execution Kerises), forged from good clear pamor steel. The blade is narrow, thick and ends with an acute tip. The bottom photo show a comparison between this very long blade to a more common execution Keris sword. The hilt is hardwood with excellent age patina and the Mendak (the small metal ring/fitting below the hilt) is engraved brass (but not really fits this handle). The scabbard is light colored hardwood and the scabbard tip is black. Total length30 ½ inches. Very Good condition. Age cracks on the handle, but it holds very well. Repair signs on the scabbard top. This is a very rare version of the Indonesian traditional sword and you certainly do not see many genuine swords like this on the market.
