Unusual Short Yataghan Sword - 14737

This style of short Yataghan sword is sometimes known as Marine Yataghan, probably because of its length. In contrary to more common Yataghans the blade here is straight with a pronounce T spine, forged from very good steel, most probably sham (low contrast middle eastern wootz) . The grips are walrus ivory with very long and narrow ears. The bolsters and grip strap are filigree silver set with drop shaped and ribbed coral stones. Original whole silver scabbard beautifully chased and engraved. Blade 16 inches long. Total length 24 inches. Very good condition. Repairs on the bolsters spine.
