Very Good Yataghan Sword from East Europe - 14733


This Yataghan sword is coming from the western region of the Ottoman empire, second half of the 19 C. Well forged wide belly blade with high carbon steel edge and T spine, 26 inches long. The blade is decorated with inscription in Arabic letters and signed by the maker. The other face of the blade is decorated with silver inlaid dots (stars). Chased silver bolsters and grip strap and horn grips. Black lacquered wood scabbard bound with chased silver bands and mounted with chased silver locket and chape. Total length 32 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Losses to the silver inlay on the blade decoration. Old crack in the scabbard wood. Very impressive Yataghan
