Very Fine and Very Long Indian Khanda Sword - 14478
This very fine Khanda sword is Indian, probably North india, mid 19C. Very long 32 1/2 inches Wootz (Damascus, watered) steel blade, riveted to the handle through two long langets. Steel basket style handle with pommel spike. The grip is bound with twisted silver wire. Both the handle, the langets and the pommel spike are very richly decorated with gold inlay decoration/ The cross guard finials are set with corals and turquoise stones. Fabric covered scabbard with gilded mounts. Total length 41 inches. Very good condition. One turquoise stone is missing.
