Fine Dayak Mandau Head Hunter Sword - 14570

This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a late 19C with a heavy 21 inches long thick blade. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from bone and bound with twisted silver / brass wires and tufts of black hair on the pommel tips. Wood scabbard bound with rattan strips. This Mandau comes with its original side knife (Piso Raout) , in a rear compartment made of wood bark and bands of hide. Original braided rattan carrying belt. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. An original authentic fine piece.
