We offer here for sale a late 19 C. Utility / fighting knife from North China. The blade is very heavy, leaf shaped 7 inches long with two fullers. Elephant ivory grip with Chinese inscription: Jiangnan Arsenal, Guangxu third year. The third year of Guangxu reign is 1878. Very good condition. Very minor pitted spots on the blade, old cracks in the ivory and a repair on one of the grips. the markings are not real armory marking. It was scratched with a sharp instrument, by someone who is not a skilled artisan, not how an arms factory would mark its products. Probably done by its owner to “upgrade” the dagger value.
