Fine Visayan Bolo Sword - 14508
This fine sword is of Visayan origin from the Philippines. Heavy, 19 inches blade with beveled edge. The blade is engraved KNI probably the owner name. Finely carved horn handle with monstrous face pommel with a silver panels, silver beak and silver collar. Silver / horn cross guard. Wood scabbard bound with tortoise shell and brass bands and leather sleeve at the top. Total length 24 inches. Very good condition. Small losses to the tortoise shell bands. The lower brass band is a later replacement for a lost tortoise shell band. The cross guard is restored. Late 19 C authentic item. |
