Very Good Piso Podang, Sword with Bikaner Wootz Signed Blade - 14500

The Podang, sometimes also known as Piso Podang is a sword common to Sumatra and specifically to the Batak People. The influence of the Indian Tulwar sword on its specific hilt shape is evident. This very good example has a single edged finely fullered and slightly curved blade forged from good wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. The blade is marked on both face and on the spine with the dot punched letters, so typical to blade coming from the Bikaner arsenal. Blade length 33 inches. Typical steel grip with a reverse cup shape pommel. Later, velvet covered wood scabbard. Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. Minor grinding scratches on the blade.
