Fine Very Long and Heavy Flyssa Sword, Algier - 14234

This Fine Flyssa is the traditional sword of the Kabyles people of Algier. This monstrous one is late 19 C. , one of the longest we have seen, 43 inches, with a 37 inches blade . It is single edge widening to its maximum about 15 inches from the tip. The blade is inlaid with brass decoration. The hilt is a combination of steel and wood, steel bolsters with brass inlay and wood grips. Wood scabbard, finely carved in a classical local style and bound with bands of brass wire. Very good condition. Very impressive sword.
