Fine and Unusual Yakoma Dagger - 14213


This fine dagger is coming from the Yakoma people of Central Africa Republic. Early 20 C. It is in a way outstanding in its blade structure and decoration: Thick and heavy blade10 inches long incised with punched dot decoration. Very well forged and well sharpened all around. Wood handle bound with brass strips and twisted steel wire. Total length 15 inches. Very good plus condition. This dagger was collected by Mr. Armand Marcel Fontaine during the first half of the 20 C. while serving as a French official in Africa. Early photo of this gentleman is shown below.
