Fine Jambiya Dagger from Hadhramout, Yemen - 14165

This fine Jambiya dagger, sometimes referred to as Gusbi comes from Hadramaut, an arid coastal area in the south of Yemen along the Arabian see. The Gusbi is characterized by the considerably up-curving scabbard tip, with the chape (scabbard tip) sometimes higher than the pommel.. 7 1/2 inches curved solid blade of very good quality, with a pronounced central rib. I shaped grip with a bulbous pommel cut from rhino horn and mounted with silver decorative mounts. The wood scabbard is covered with tooled leather and mounted with silver locket set with carnelian stone and a silver chape. This Jambiya comes with its original brocade belt with golden threads. Very good condition.
