Sword of the Manding (Mandingo) with Old Bayonet Blade. West Sahara, Africa - 14119


The Manding (Mandingo) are West African people that now live in Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, and Senegal. Their traditional sword comprises a saber like blade (mostly old European military blades), guard less leather grip and scabbard with exquisite leather work. We offer here for sale such an interesting exemplar employing a re-used military French (?) bayonet blade. Leather grip and leather scabbard with leaf shaped widening tip, tooled and decorated and with leather tassel and big round knobs. Blade 21 total length 27 inches. Good condition. Few pitted spots on the blade. Some losses to the leather work with repairs.
