Very Good MANDAU, Sword of the Dyak Head Hunters, Borneo - 14098


This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is early 20 C. vintage with heavy 19 1/2 inches blade with a convex / concave cross section. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from antler, with the grip bound with two colors braided rattan strips and black horn tip. Wood scabbard beautifully carved and bound with rattan strips and with a bark compartment for side knife (missing). Original rattan carrying belt. Total length 30 inches. Very good condition. Repaired scabbard tip.
