Very Heavy Fighting / Sacrificial Kora Sword, Nepal - 6497
Kora swords were used in Nepal and North India for both fighting and sacrificial processes. They are quite similar, only the sacrificial sword is wider and heavier. This one is basically a fighter of very good quality but the blade dimentions are so that it can also be used for sacrificing. Heavy, down curving, blade, with its deadly sharp edge on the concave side and with wide heavy tip. This one has a 21 inches blade, 5 ˝ inches at the tip. The tip is marked with the “Eye” talisman marking, and the spine is marked with numbers. Total length 26 ˝ inches. It is of a whole steel construction with the grip of cylindrical form between disk shaped cross guard and pommel, still with its original fabric on the grip. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade. |
