Pichangetti, Knife of the Coorgs, India - 6456

This magnificent knife is a Pichangetti, Utility knife as well as a weapon used by the Coorg People of South west India, and the name means in Tamil language: Hand Knife. Like all Coorg weapon, it is a very rare item and hardly seen on the net or in auctions. The heavy 7 ½ inches blade can be used as an efficient weapon if the need arises. Silver handle and silver fittings on the scabbard. Short silver chain used to hang it on the belt on the belly. Total length12 ½ inches. Excellent condition. |
