Up for sale is this fine Turkish Dagger with a 9 inches blade forged from very good wootz (Damascus, watered) steel of good clear pattern. The blade is engraved with Arabic letters and dated 155 (standing for 1155) in the Islamic calendar (1742 in the Gregorian calendar). The handle is a solid piece of walrus ivory carved entirely from the marble like inner core of the tusk. Leather covered wood scabbard. Total length 12 1/2 inches. Very good condition. very minor chips on the ivory handle. The leather cover of the scabbard is later.
