This rare short sword of the Kota people from Gabon was collected in 1922 by Dr. Yves Bellocq A French scientist and traveler. Mid - late 19C. Massive blade with a step" central ridge and unusual steel bolster. Grip bound with brass strip and a cone shaped brass / iron pommel. Blade 14 inches long 4 1/2 wide. Total length21 inches. Very good condition to age. Minor edge nick and forging fault. Rare early sword.
