This fine shield is Persian, Qajar period, second half of the 19 C. The outer band has chiseled inscription in Arabic letters. Inner part of the shield is chiseled with classical Qajar period figures and floral decoration. Four chiseled bosses. All gold washed (now partially erased). Original hand cushion and hand strips (one torn) Shield diameter18 inches. Very good condition. Back side heavily patinated.
