Fine Wootz Saddle Axe, Qajar. Early 19C. - 14063


This fine piece is also known as saddle axe, Persian Qajar period early 19C. The heavy blade is 3 1/2 inches wide 6 inches tall, forged from fine high contrast wootz steel. The 22 inches long steel handle is finely etched in a pattern imitating watered steel and includes a concealed long spike. The blade is very richly decorated with gold koftgari work. Very good condition.
