Very Good Dayak Mandau Sword - 14012

This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a late 19C with a 19 inches long blade of Concave / Convex cross section decorated with brass and white metal inserts. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from antler and bound with braided rattan strips. Wood scabbard bound with rattan strips in a decorative pattern. This Mandau comes with the side knife (Piso Raout) in a rear compartment made of wood bark, but of unusual shape. Not a blade but a needle shaped tip. Original braided rattan belt. Total length 27 1/2 inch. Very good condition. Good age patina on the blade and the grip. Minor losses to the scabbard wood. An original authentic sword for real use.
