This rare sword is an Alamang, a sword used by the Bugis of Sulawesi. Second half of the 19C. Well made blade of high contrast pamor structure. Massive horn handle with chased silver collar. Scabbard bound with alternating rattan and twisted silver wire. Chase silver locket and Chape. Blade length 20 inches. Total length 28 inches. Good condition. Damaged and dented locket and chape. Losses to the silver / rattan binding. Small chipped area of the handle horn. Very rare sword.
