Very Good Early Dayak Mandau Sword - 14001


This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a late 19C with a slender 18 1/2 inches long blade of Concave / Convex cross section decorated with a series of holes and engraving. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from antler and bound with braided rattan strips. Wood scabbard bound with rattan strips in a decorative pattern. This Mandau comes with the side knife (Piso Raout) , in a rear compartment made of wood bark. Original braided rattan belt. Total length 23 inch. Very good condition. Good age patina on the blade and the grip. An original authentic sword for real use.
