Rare Batak Klewang Sword, Sumatra - 13994


This Klewang sword is a rare form of swords used by the Batak people from Sumatra. It has a up-curving 18 inches blade, widest at the tip. The entire length of the blade is etched with inscriptions in Arabic letters. Wood handle bound with twisted brass wire. The scabbard is wood, painted with gold decoration and open at its top to allow withdrawal of the blade. Total length 24 inches. Very good condition. Losses to the blade etching.
