Up for sale is this fine “PIHA KAHETTA”, the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). Like the old classical examples it has a single edged short heavy down curving blade, 7 ˝ inches long and almost ˝ inch thick at its base. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with filed and silver covered grip strap and chased silver plaques and pommel cover. Total length is 10 ˝ inches. Very good condition. Minor edge knicks. Very good age patina on the blade and the ivory grips. mid - late 18 C. A fine piece in good condition.
