Betel Nut Box, Mindanao, Philippines - 13951
Not exactly a weapon but definitely a rare ethnographic artifact: This is a box to hold betel nuts. It has three compartments to hold the nuts, the betel nut leaves and lime powder. Bronze inlaid with silver in a beautiful floral pattern. 6 1/2 inches wide, 3 inches deep and 3 1/2 inches tall. Very good condition. This item comes with an old label from 1967 describing the box and its use. Scarce item from south of the Philippines, early 20 C. |
