This Shamshir sword is Turkish, late 18C. with an earlier blade. The finely forged wootz blade with high contrast pattern is 31 inches long, inlaid with inscription in Arabic letters and maker sign. Massive rhino horn grips with dark age patina and with bulbous pommel. Silver grip strap and silver cross guard. Leather covered scabbard with spiral stitching mounted with large chased silver mounts. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. Very minor horn chip on one grip. Minor dents on the silver parts.
