Very Good Short Sword of the Yaka , Zaire, Africa - 13899


A very good and complete Yaka sword. The Yaka people reside in the southern borders of Zaire, and they developed a sword of very typical shape. The blade is 13 inches long spear head shaped, dot punched along its center line. The grip is covered with animal hide and the pommel looks like a crown made from copper / steel wires with a long tubular / conical pommel. The scabbard is covered with hide and the scabbard tip is widening to a big disk shaped tail. Total length 22 inches.Very good condition. Minor losses to the scabbard cover. Early -20th Century sword.
