A very good RENTONG knife / dagger from the Malay Archipelago. The version offered here is mostly used by the Achenese people from North West Sumatra . The blade is massive, 10 inches long down curving and single edged, forged from laminated steel. The hilt is most probably Hippo tooth, with sharply up-curving pommel (with a later replaced ivory tip to repair an old breakage). The scabbard is finely engraved wood with white metal reinforcing bands. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition.
