Rare WW 1 Souvenir - 13692


This set of pike like steel pieces is a WW1 souvenir from the battle on the Fort de Lonchin in Liege, Belgium August 1914. Following a fierce shelling by the German artillery, one of the ammunition magazines was hit and exploded, destroying almost the complete fort with very many casualties, still buried under the ruins. This souvenir is forged from shrapnel of large caliber cannon shell from the fort. Delicately etched with images of royalties and engraved. Length 18 inches. Very good condition.
