This wood club is most probably a version of Irish Shillelagh, late 19C. It is made of hardwood with swollen head and contains a short blade which is withdrawn by swinging the club. The blade has a spring catch to hold it firm in open position. Blade 5 1/2 inches. Length 16 inches with the blade closed. Very good condition. Very good age patina on the wood
