Very Rare Kiem Vietnamese Straight Sword - 13560

This straight, double edge sword is Vietnamese, early 20 C. , also known as Kiem. Its narrow long blade is 26 inches long of shallow diamond cross section. The handle is composed of grip made of very rare fossil tooth (Mammoth ??) and mounted with big chased silver pommel and cross guard. Wood scabbard covered with tortoise shell and with beautifully chased silver mounts. Total length 34 1/2 inches. Very good condition. The tip of the scabbard is a thin ivory disk (may be a later replacement). |
