Wootz Karud Dagger from Bukhara Rhino Horn Hilt - 13550
This fine Karud dagger is coming from Bukhara, Uzbekistan. late 18 - early 19C. The blade is forged from beautiful high contrast wootz (Damascus) steel, 11 inches long, heavy, with a pronounced T spine tapering to an acute tip. The grips are Rhino horn cut axially to the horn. The grip strap and bolsters are steel with silver cover. Fabric covered scabbard with gilded silver mounts. Total length 19 inches. This cut of the horn grips is typical to Bukhara, and hence the suggested origin. Very good condition. Very good dark age patina on the grips. |
