Very Good MANDAU, Sword of the Dyak Head Hunters, Borneo - 13417
This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a late 19C. vintage with a 20 inches blade with a convex / concave cross section. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from bone and bound with twisted steel wires. Carved wood scabbard bound with rattan bands. Braided belt. Total length 26 1/2 inches. Very good condition. The rattan binding is later. |
