Up for sale is this very fine Vietnamese saber also known as Guom. The single edged grooved blade is slightly curved, engraved in a classical Vietnamese style, 28 inches long. The hilt is very finely deeply carved ivory grip and copper silver cross guard and animal shaped pommel, and D guard inlaid with silver in a beautiful pattern. The scabbard is wood with fine chased silver fittings and inlaid in an intricate pattern of Mother of Pearl decoration. Original green and red tassel (worn).Total length 36 inches. Very good condition. On old solid crack to one side of the handle. A very fine piece.
