Good Laz Bichaq Yataghan Sword from the Black Sea dated 1294 ( 1877). - 13402


The origin of this unusual and rare sword was in a fierce debates between collectors and researchers of blade weapons. It was attributed to the Caucasus, Kurdistan, North Africa, Turkey, Malaya as well as other origins. However, most probably it is coming from North / East Turkey and found in Caucasian areas as well. It is best known as Black Sea Yataghan or Laz Bichaq. It is characterized by the deeply re-curving blade and bifurcated pommel. This one has a 23 inches blade decorated with punched dot decoration and dated also with punched dots to 1294 (1877 in the Gregorian calendar). The grips and pommel spikes are horn and the grip strap is brass. Total length 29 inches. Good condition. Small loss to the hron tip.No scabbard.
