The Barongs heavy leaf shaped blades are known to have superior cutting abilities. This one is a good old Moro Barong, with a pattern welded (Damascus) blade, 20 inches long, longer than the usual 14 inches blades. The hilt is carved from a beautiful grained wood in a very classical form, bound to the blade tang with three silver bands. The scabbard is wood entirely bound with Rattan strips, and a colorful strip of fabric at the top. The upper part of the scabbard is elaborately carved and set with pieces of Mother of Pearl and. Good condition. Good blade with few forging flaws. The rattan wrapping is broken and re-glued in several points. The grip had some additional wrapping between the silver bands which now is missing. A very impressive piece at a very reasonable price.
