Very Good Piso Podang, Sword of the Batak, Sumatra - 13310
The Podang, sometimes also known as Piso Podang is a sword common to Sumatra and specifically to the Batak People. The influence of the Indian Tulwar sword on its specific hilt shape is evident. This very good example has a single edged fullered and curved blade, 25 inches long. The Solid bmetal hilt is of a typical form with a reverse cup shape pommel. Wood scabbard with horn mounts. Total length 35 inches. Very good condition. an impressive and elegant sword.
