Execution Keris Dagger , Sumatra - 6351
An Execution Keris dagger / sword from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. The blade of this specific Keris is 20 inches, narrow but thick with two flat fullers. The hilt is wood and the mendak is a cup shaped made of brass. The scabbard is wood and the scabbard tip is horn. Total length (in scabbard) 26 inches. Very Good condition. It is a very rare version of the Indonesian traditional sword and you certainly do not see many genuine swords like this on the market. |
