Fine African Axe, may be Zulu - 13228

This fine axe has a long 8 inches blade 2 inches edge. The blade up swept tail is 6 inches long. It is mounted into a wood haft entirely covered in densely braided brass wires in a very intricate pattern, Total length 18 inches. Very good condition. The braided brass wires is very common on Zulu artifacts but the blade shape may indicate somewhat an origin more to the North. Fine work. Early 20C. |
