The swords and daggers of the Baule tribe were very rare and sought after by collectors of African weapon / tribal arts. The Baule people reside in Ivory Coast and Neighboring Ghana and known to be masters of wood work and brass casting. We offer here for sale a rare short sword of the Baule. The blade is slightly curved of a shallow diamond cross section and with a squared tip and, 18 inches long. The handle is covered with leather and with a crown shaped pommel. The scabbard is wood, covered with hide and animal fur. Total length 23 ½ inches. Very good condition. Nicely untouched patina on the blade. Losses to the fur.
