Huge Massive 19 C. Indian Sword Khanda Hilt - 6311
This is a huge Indian sword, mid 19 C. , with a massive deeply re-curving blade 27 inches long and 3 ½ inches wide near the tip. It has a T spine extending to almost two thirds of the blade length and leaving about 10 inches of false edge toward the blade tip. The hilt is of the Khanda type, basket shaped with a long spike protruding from the pommel which is used for two hands maneuvers. The grip is bound with silver colored strip and cushioned with a green velvet cushion. Very good condition. Very few nicks on the edge. A small piece on one side of the basket is chipped off. The grip bound and cushion are recent. Very unusual find – a prize for the serious collector. |
