Fine Ram Dao Sword from Nepal - 13077

This fine Ram-Dao is a sacrificial sword from Nepal. It is meant to behead the sacrificed animal in one sword blow, and this is exactly how the blade is designed: Heavy 21 inches long, down curving blade with a massive handle. The blade is richly decorated with engraving and inlaid with brass on both faces and on the spine. The famous guarding eye is engraved and set with brass at the blade tip. The grip is checkered wood fitted with heavy brass mounts. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. Fine and impressive late 19 - early 20C.
