Very Nice 19C Execution Penjang Keris / Kris Sword - 13033
A Keris Penjang , also sometimes referred to as Execution Keris from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was supposedly used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. The blade of this specific Keris is 19 1/2 inches long, forged from pamor steel. The hilt is beautifully carved horn. Gilded decorative mendak. Wood scabbard with engraved silver mounts and ivory tip. Total length 25 inches. Very good condition, the blade lightly worn. Very good exemplar. |
