This very fine knife is dated to 1875 and made in France by F. BARBEDIENE . Heavy and thick silver plated brass, in the style of the Sihalese Piha Kahetta knife. The blade is 11 inches long pierced and finely chiseled in a very decorative floral design. So are the handle and bolsters. The blade is signed by the maker and also marked D. ATT ARQE PIT, C. SE?ID .IN.1875 . The scabbard is covered with blue color velvet fabric and mounted with finely chased silver locket and chape. Total length 17 inches. Very good plus condition. Losses to the silver plating. A very fine and interesting item. Very few of the same maker has been on the market.
