This short sword from Somalia is a development of the Somali Billao dagger and was used mainly by the coastal people of Somalia. It has a long non-symmetrical well forged leaf shape blade, 20 inches long. The handle is made of sections of dark horn separated by section of light colored metal. The pommel is of a typical three pronged shape. Hide scabbard and carrying belt. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. Mid 20C. authentic and unusual item from East Africa, complete as originally made.
