Very Good Heavy Dayak Mandau Sword - 12877
This MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a late 19C with a heavy 21 inches long 10 mm thick blade with unusual fuller on the convex face. The handle is “L” shaped, carved from bone and bound with braided rattan strips, with a tufts hair on the pommel tips. Dark hard wood scabbard bound with rattan strips in a decorative pattern. This Mandau comes with the side knife (Piso Raout) , in a rear compartment made of wood bark. Total length 27 inch. Very good condition. Minor losses to the resin cover of the grip end. An original authentic piece for real use. |
