Pandat, War Sword of the Dayak, Sarawak, Kalimantan - 12793
The Pandat, also known as Parang Pandit is the war sword of the land Dayak of Sarwak, in North West Kalimantan (Borneo). It is a two handed sword, used only as a war sword and never as a tool, a multiuse which is so common to other blades from the Indonesian archipelago. Blade and handle are forged from one piece of steel. This specimen has a 16 inches blade, widening toward the tip. The grip is white metal and the pommel is a brass button. Total length 23 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard. |
