Probably of Visayan origin from the Philippines, this very good sword has a heavy, 19 inches blade with down curving sharpened spine tip. Finely carved wood handle with monstrous face pommel with a silver beak. Brass collar and cross guard. Wood scabbard bound with brass bands and leather sleeve at the top. The leather sleeve is engraved MEL, probably the owner name. Total length 24 inches. Very good condition. Probably late 19 C authentic item.
